Friends and Partners of The Summit Church Denver,
As March comes to a close, we’ve had a great month in our new space at our local coffee shop, Coffee at the Point. We’ve already seen many new guests attend and our numbers grow. In anticipation of further growth, as well as in anticipation of Coffee at the Point possibly extending their Sunday evening business hours, we will be moving to a new location beginning April 3rd.
Attached you will find a couple of pictures of our new space – a renovated warehouse in the RiNo (River Arts North District) part of our neighborhood of Five Points. We’re thankful for friends like you who make opportunities like this possible through your giving and prayers. Please continue to pray for us that we see this new resource as nothing more than a simple tool that will further enable us to make disciples who make disciples of Jesus in the city of Denver.
Many of you have asked me how you or your church can be involved in our church planting efforts here in urban Denver. Beyond your prayers and financial giving, the major way that you can help us is be involved in what we are calling ServeDenver 2011. This is a great chance for our partners to take a mission trip here to Denver, see firsthand the work we’re doing, have people gain first-hand experience in a post-Christian urban context, and be a blessing to us and the city.
Click here the document giving more specifics, but below will be a few highlights to give you more information.
Please let me know if you have any questions. As always, thank you for your prayers and support.
ServeDenver 2011
What it is: ServeDenver is The Summit’s week of service (June 5-9) to the city of the Denver. In an effort to bless the city and to demonstrate the love of Jesus in real and practical ways, those participating in ServeDenver will serve alongside various organizations in Denver to help in anything from refugee relief to supporting local public schools.
Major Objectives: For the city – we desire that we would tangibly bless several of the non-profit organizations and schools in the city, having ServeDenver participants serve them in whatever capacity best meets their needs.
For Partnering Churches – we desire that partnering churches and participants are given a glimpse into what church planting and ministry looks like in a very difficult, post-Christian urban area, and consequently are better equipped to do ministry in their respective contexts.
For The Summit Denver – we desire that this week helps build The Summit’s reputation for being for the good of the city, and further establishes our credibility to share the gospel and grow our church in our community.
What we Need from you: We need the following information from participating churches:
– Number of participants.
– Dates that you’ll be able to participate.
This will allow us to begin communicating with the groups we’ll be serving and specifying the projects we’ll be participating in this week.
Sincerely,
—
